This webpage provides a list of links to nine websites, with calculation devices, I created in the summer of 2010, for Algebra and related mathematical concepts.  Some of these calculation devices are quite unusual, and they are provided without charge, and are available in three formats: Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice Calc, and JavaScript.  The Excel and OpenOffice formats are available for download, and the JavaScript versions function online.

Four of the nine websites are essentially short e-books, with 3000 to 10,000 words, and a hyperlinked table of contents.  I wrote this material to provide technical information for the creation of dedicated calculation devices in the JavaScript and spreadsheet formats.

The nine websites, with the calculation devices are listed below this paragraph, but I am presenting links to two of the most interesting online devices here.  If you a click on a blue link below, a functioning calculation device will open directly from this webpage:

www.TechForText.com/Multiple-Algebraic-Calculator/P  This is the largest JavaScript device that I have ever created, and it is the largest I have ever seen on the Internet.  It is about 15 pages long, carries out over 75 calculations simultaneously involving algebra, calculus, and trigonometry.

www.TechForText.com/PolyTrig-Calculator/P  This device carries out over 30 trigonometric calculations simultaneously, when the user enters numbers for the height and base of a right triangle.

A List of Nine Websites, with Calculation Devices,

And Related Information

Note: All of the following websites have calculation devices in three formats: Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice Calc, and JavaScript.  To obtain the calculation devices, or related technical information, go directly to the website by left clicking on a blue link, on top of each of the following paragraphs.  However, the online JavaScript versions of the calculation devices are also accessible from this webpage, by left clicking on the green highlighted blue link, which is located at the bottom of each of the following paragraphs.

Website 1)

www.TechForText.com/Algebra

This website is an e-book with over 10,000 words, and a hyperlinked table of contents, and it contains theories and techniques for the design of calculation devices.  It presents a novel use of spreadsheet software, as a computer language, for creating dedicated calculation devices in the JavaScript and spreadsheet formats.  The website also provides two calculation devices that were created with different techniques.  Both of these devices solve a simple algebraic equation.  The online versions can be accessed directly from this website, by clicking on the blue links highlighted in green, below.

This website is an e-book with 3009 words, and a hyperlinked table of contents.  This website provides a calculation device (Exponential Algebraic Calculator) for solving equations with exponents, that are similar to: AXV+BXV+KXV+DXV+EXV=W. The online version of this Calculator is accessible from this website by left clicking on the following link.

http://www.techfortext.com/Exponential-Algebraic-Calculator/Exponential-Algebraic-P/index.htm

Website 6)

www.TechForText.com/Algebraic-Integral-Calculator

This website provides the Algebraic Integral Calculator.  This calculation device is quite unusual.  It solves for B in the integral on the bottom of this paragraph.  The user enters values for A, n, and M. (M is the area under the curve.)  After the value for B has been calculated, the Algebraic Integral Calculator checks its calculations by solving the integral in the conventional way, for the area under the curve, which in this case is represented by M.

If you want to access the online version of the Algebraic Integral Calculator left click on the following link:

Website 7)

www.TechForText.com/PolyTrig-Calculator

This website provides the PolyTrig Calculator.  This calculation device carries out over 30 trigonometric calculations simultaneously, when the user enters numbers for the height and base of a right triangle.  The PolyTrig Calculator has five sections, and it is approximately the size of a five page document.  It displays a number of conventional trigonometric formulas with calculated results.  If you want to access the online version of the PolyTrig Calculator left click on the following link:

System Requirements For the Dedicated

Calculation Devices From the Nine

Websites Listed Above

The Software Requirements for the

JavaScript Calculation Devices

The JavaScript calculation devices I created will function with any modern operating system and Internet browser that has JavaScript functionality.  This includes the most popular operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, and Linux, but I have only tested the calculation devices with Microsoft Windows.

Most, if not all, modern browsers have JavaScript functionality.  If you do not have a browser that supports JavaScript, or want to upgrade, you can obtain browsers for free, by downloading them from the websites listed at the end of this paragraph.  To go to any of the websites listed, left click on a blue web link.  If a link fails to function, it is most likely because the web address was changed, by the manufacture of the browser.  If this happens, you should do an Internet search, preferably with Google, using the name of the browser, and the word download, such as Internet Explorer download.

Opera: http://www.opera.com/

Firefox: http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/

Google Chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome/

Software Requirements for the

Spreadsheet Calculation Devices

The calculation devices that I created in the spreadsheet format require Microsoft Excel, or the OpenOffice.org software package, and the Windows operating system.  If you do not have Microsoft Excel, you should download the OpenOffice.org software package, because it is free.  This software package is almost as good as Microsoft Office, and it contains spreadsheet software (OpenOffice Calc) that has most of the functionality of Microsoft Excel.

To download the free OpenOffice software package, left click on these words, or go to the following website:  www.OpenOffice.org

The Computer Requirements for the Calculation Devices

The JavaScript and spreadsheet calculation devices I created for the nine websites, listed above, do not require much computer resources.  Any computer that has enough memory and processing power to run a modern operating system, with spreadsheet software, will have enough power for all of the calculation devices provided from the nine websites.

Incidentally, highly complex calculation devices, involving thousands of formulas, may require a relatively powerful computer, to function optimally.  However, the most complex device created for the nine websites listed above, involve less than 150 formulas.

About the Website and

General Information About the Design of the Websites

The nine websites with calculation devices, as well as this website, were designed to maximize usability or user-friendliness.  The text on all of the websites, are presented with relatively large fonts.  The paragraphs are relatively short, and the sentence structure and wording were written to maximize comprehension*.  The websites have a very simple layout, on a single page.  The websites that have large amounts of text have a hyperlinked table of contents.  This makes it easy to navigate intuitively, by scrolling down or up, or by clicking on links.  All the links for downloads and other websites are also written with large fonts, and clearly marked as links, such as with the following words: left click on these words.

*Note: Most of the information on the nine websites is technical, and it requires advanced knowledge in spreadsheet software and mathematics, for maximum comprehension.  Individuals, who do not have this knowledge, will probably understand portions of the text.

Services Offered by the Author David@TechForText.com

I design and build user-friendly software based calculation devices for arithmetic, accounting, currency exchange rates, algebra, trigonometry, correlations, calculus, and databases with built-in calculation devices.  I also create attractive online calculation devices for websites, as well as web communication forms.  This includes web forms with built-in calculation devices.  I generally make these devices in the Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice.org, and the JavaScript formats, but I can work with other spreadsheet formats besides the above.

I write instructions for the devices I build.  I can also write instructions for software and computer devices created by others.  In addition, I can write advertising for your websites, products and services.

I can provide the services mentioned above on a fee-for-service basis, or possibly based on temporary or permanent employment.  If you are interested in my services, and want additional contact information or more data on the services I offer, you can email me at David@TechForText.com or use a website communication form, by left clicking on these words.

I am located in the USA.  If you are a great distance from my locality or are in another country, this is not important.  I can provide these services worldwide, because the software and websites I make can be delivered through the Internet to any locality, providing there are no governmental restrictions.
